FAQ

Why do soy-wax candles patina?

Soy wax is a natural product and as a result it has qualities which make each candle unique. Subtle markings and a biography of the production and storage process of each candle creates an individual patina and minor variations which add to their organic beauty.

What does tunnelling mean?

The ‘memory effect’ means that your candle will seldom burn past the point of the edge of the wax pool formed on the first burn.

On the first lighting, and each lighting thereafter, ensure the pool of liquid wax covers the entire surface of the candle, right up to the edges of the container.

What can we use empty candle votives for?

They make lovely vases either individually or clustered together, but shine as storage vessels – especially for make-up brushes or art supplies.

A lot of consideration went into their selection in terms of size and colour so they would be both beautiful, durable and useful.

Very hot tap water and dish detergent will rid them of any residual wax.

How sustainable are your candles, production, and shipping?

Made of natural soy wax with unbleached cotton wicks and recyclable packaging both our production and product footprints are minimised and considered at all steps. Some of the shaped candles are a soy wax blend where necessary for firmness.

Within New Zealand, 100% of our orders are shipped carbon neutral as long as it will not excessively compromise delivery times. Overseas, where possible, we utilise low carbon shipping options.
